Mark Kaufman from Portland OR

We are now in our fifth month living in Mexico, and do not for a single minute regret our decision to move here where we fully expect to live out our remaining years in happiness and peace.
We are absolutely delighted that all our worldly goods are finally with us. Only after relaxing for a day or two following the completion of our unpacking in Oaxaca did I realize how much stress I had been carrying from the time we first made our decision to move, tied up in the fact that virtually everything that we had gathered over 40 years would initially be more than 3,000 miles and a country away.
The uncertainties about whether all our possessions would actually get to us and safely so was an omnipresent creator of anxiety—something that even though we hoped all would turn out fine, was a nagging sound in my head that I tried unsuccessfully to drown out. What a relief that we are now reunited, most especially with our significant collection of art that we started collecting as early as 1981.
My and my wife’s angst about the move, already heightened, went through the roof the day we learned on July 29th that the moving company that we had initially hired had totally dropped the ball, creating massive uncertainty whether our dream of delightfully living on Oaxaca with our household goods might be shattered due to their incompetence.
Totally at a loss for a workable solution, and in desperation, I reached out around noon on the 29h to my Oaxacan realtor whose relationship partner, Willie Delfin, handles moving services in Oaxaca, wondering if by chance he might know of a solution to get my household from Portland to Oaxaca. Two hours later, apparently after Willie called Best México Movers, I received your call.
From that moment, my angst turned to total relief. Your first words will never be forgotten. You told me that you only had 5 minutes to initially chat because of another scheduled call, but would call me back in an hour to explain your services. But what you briefly said then changed our move trajectory forever. “Mark, we’ve got this; we can get your household moved to Oaxaca; don’t worry!”
Remarkably, it was only hours before that call that I learned how the prior moving company had totally dropped the ball, leaving me without any realistic prospect that my household move, scheduled to start only five days hence, could successfully be accomplished. But by day’s end on the 29th, after our follow up call, there was already a plan in place to have Best México Movers coordinate the moving process for us.
Almost immediately, the process of moving our goods to Mexico came together very quickly. Your colleague, Andy Kneeter, got us in touch with You Move Me, a local packing service with whom Best México Movers regularly works. That was on Wednesday morning, July 30th. Miraculously, it turned out that You Move Me could schedule the start of packing on August 4th, the same day that the packing with the prior mover had been scheduled to start.
Immediately, all the preliminaries were quickly attended to. We had a virtual walk through on the 30th and promptly dealt with Andy on insurance and other logistics matters. On the same day, we began coordinating the completion of other customs requirements with our Personal Moving Assistant, Laura Aguilar.
Packing commenced on August 4th—a four-day process because of the size of our household goods and art. Loading, scheduled the following Monday the 11th, went smoothly and our goods left Portland in a 53-foot trailer late that afternoon on the way to the Mexican border in Laredo, Texas.
Our goods arrived in Oaxaca 9 days later on August 20th, and with Willie leading his able team, we unloaded our goods into our rental house and into two storage units over the next two days.
My wife and I cannot be most pleased with the moving organized, implemented and guided by the team at Best México Movers. Your approach to moving household goods to Mexico gave us comfort from the very outset. All the components of the moving process were directed by dedicated professionals at every step of the way. We were constantly in communication with your staff to assure that all our questions were being answered and that nothing was left unattended or to chance.
Every person with whom we interacted treated us with kindness and with a full understanding that international moves like ours are inherently stressful; and that their job was to relieve every anxiety before it even arose!
The fact that we were given our own dedicated trailer, as opposed to mixing our goods with those of other customers, provided us with immediate security that less hands would touch our goods. Using the dedicated trailer approach also significantly shortened the transit process. Unlike other movers who estimated 6 or more weeks between pick-up and delivery (without explaining that the likely delay would occur because of the need to pick up and drop off the goods of other customers in our trailer), you indicated that using the dedicated trailer approaching would likely result in a total transit time of less than 2 weeks—-and we beat that by 4 days.
Using local packers in Portland and unloaders in Oaxaca with whom you have an established relationship guaranteed that those aspects of the move would be done with extreme care. Unlike the typical movers who contract out those services to companies without a proven track record and then incorporate their packing and unpacking fees in an aggregate price, Best Mexico’s use of independent recommended contractors gave us direct access to the packing and unpacking teams with whom we would be working, vastly improving the quality and safety of the process.
In sum, I could not recommend Best México Movers more highly. Your organization warrants an A+; and I’d be happy to chat with other prospective customers about how truly satisfied we have been with every aspect of the services you and the associated packing and unpacking teams provided.
Let me also comment that the cost of our move, with all aspects of it factored in, was fair and reasonable, especially given the excellent quality of the services that were provided to us.
Chuck, you’ve developed quite a wonderful business; and for those thinking about moving to Mexico, no other solution could possibly be better than entrusting that vital responsibility to Best Mexico Movers.
